About Neil

Neil holds a BTEC National Diploma in Music and has been playing the piano since the age of eight, taking all practical grades along the way up to Grade 8. He now has over eighteen years teaching experience with both adults and children, from beginners to advanced level, covering basic technique through to classical repertoire and music theory, most recently working alongside Diane Hussey as part of DH Piano & Keyboard Tuition in Gravesend.

He has also accompanied for many concerts, rehearsals and numerous other functions over the years, closely working with singers performing a range of material from classical arias to musical theatre and popular songs.

In 2009, he co-wrote his first children’s musical, Fast Forward to Fantasy, composing and arranging the entire score. Since then he has gone on to co-write several more shows with his sister Diane Brooks, performed by pupils within local schools. These have ranged from shorter Key Stage 1 Christmas productions to full length shows for Year Six. During some of these productions, Neil has worked with the children on interpretation of songs and character development, strongly influenced by his own background in performing. Fast Forward to Fantasy has been published by Schoolplay Productions Ltd, and several of their other shows have been made available for performance by schools and youth theatre groups via Bigfoot Arts Education. They are also currently working on their first full-scale musical for adults - Wilting Woods.

Neil also holds an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
