Tuition

Lessons are given within pupil's homes - to save you the hassle of having to get to another venue on time - and are all arranged accordingly to the individual’s requirements - whether it be to study for piano exams, or just play for pleasure! All styles are taught, from great classical works to modern popular songs, as well as music theory if requested.

All exams are entered through The Associated Board of The Royal School of Music syllabus, from Grade 1 to 8, with Prep Tests and Diplomas also being available at opposite ends of that spectrum. Pupils can also be entered for music theory exams, and anyone wishing to proceed with practical exams beyond Grade 5 must also pass Grade 5 Theory first.

Exams of course are not for everyone, and pupils just wishing to play for their own personal enjoyment are just as welcome! So if there’s a song you’ve always wanted to play, or a classical piece you’ve been wanting to tackle for years, or even an audition for something that you’re aiming towards, these can all be happily accommodated.

As a composer, Neil will also be happy to pass on some tips and guidance about structuring music, for anyone who fancies having a go at writing their own piece!

No previous experience is needed, but all that's required is a piano/keyboard and plenty of enthusiasm!

Tuition is available from age 8 upwards.

Testimonials

'Neil's an excellent teacher and I really enjoy the lessons and always look forward to them. He is friendly and calm and very professional. He always has very good ideas in teaching the techniques as well as giving structure and direction. Neil also brings fun to the lessons. Neil is very flexible and carried out Zoom lessons during lock down which maintained his high standards and which I enjoyed throughly. I am progressing nicely through the grades. I would highly recommended Neil if you're looking for a piano teacher.'

'Starting as an adult beginner a few years ago, Neil has so far guided me through Grades 1-5 with individually tailored lessons, firm but infinite patience and plenty of energy. As an inspiring role model his passion for music and performance skill at the piano shines through in every lesson, motivating me to be the best I can possibly be!'

'Playing the piano has always been a dream of mine, and I couldn't have wished for a better teacher. Having worked with Neil for a while now, I have always found him to be patient, knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor which makes the learning process a joy. I can't imagine I would have made the progress I have without Neil as a teacher, so I will always be grateful to him for this. I fully intend to work with him for years to come to reach my full potential as it's an instrument I love and can see the progress which just makes me want to do even better.'
